'The Challenges Facing the 21st Century Rural Economy' Lunch
- Date:
- 13 February 2008
- Venue:
- Boisdale, Eccleston Street, SW1
A dozen guests drawn from the property, land management, agricultural and food sectors enjoyed an informal discussion lunch, addressed by Sir Donald Curry, Chairman of the Sustainable Farming & Food Strategy Delivery Group. Hosted by CCG consultants, Edward Wild (Chair) and Susan Westcott, those attending enjoyed a wide ranging dialogue which addressed issues such as climate change, food security, rural housing, biodiversity, GM and how to respond to population growth. Edward, who leads CCG's Environmental and Rural Practice, reflected afterwards: "This was an excellent opportunity for some of the leaders in the sector to debate the issues which will affect all their organisations and businesses in the decades ahead. We acknowledged that the discussion was a starting point in assessing the challenges we share, but we will be building on the contributions in our own research which will be published later this year”. The occasion also marked the start of CCG’s programme of meetings on the theme of the Challenges Facing the 21st Century Board.
